Campaign Story

Hi there, we are the Scott’s, Vincent (41) and Olivia (35) married for 13years with a 15yo son Xavior and an angel son Valor our long awaited son who was diagnosed with Trisomy 13 in utero, born 8:17:23 and lived a beautiful 51minutes.

It has been our dream since becoming Xavior’s parents to grow our family. We assumed that would be no problem, since we didn’t have to try very hard to conceive with Xavior, little did we know we would begin a 14 year journey with many questions and little answers. From confusing diagnosis of pcos to unexplained secondary infertility. We tried metformin, timed cycles, clomid and letrozole, which was no help, our reproductive endocrinologist told us our best bet was ivf, but our insurance didn’t and still doesn’t cover any fertility treatments.
So inevitably we moved on the best we could focusing on Xavior and our careers. Life was great don’t get me wrong, but it was heartbreaking at times watching my husband with Xavior and thinking “I wish I had more children like him!” He’s an amazing father, husband, friend and has never wavered or blamed me, though I know he longs for more children.

Fast forward to 2023, after losing 50lbs, I fell pregnant! What an amazing shock I will never forget the joy I felt and the look of amazement on my husband’s face. We couldn’t believe after 14years of trying we were actually going to give Xavior a sibling, a sibling he always asked for! Well, things didn’t turn out the way we imagined but we did give Xavior a little brother who lives in heaven. At 13weeks we discovered Valor had a genetic condition called Trisomy 13, which affected his brain, heart and every cell in his body. At 28weeks Valor wasn’t growing and getting the blood supply he needed due to his condition, so we had an emergency C-section to give him a chance at life! He did live thought his life was short only 51minutes, we were able to meet and love him. Our lives have forever been changed. Some may say its a fluke and that it wouldn’t happen again we’ve experienced 2 more early miscarriages since having Valor. We want to try again and this time with IVF, so that we can have our embryos tested to hopefully prevent another genetic anomaly or loss. We aren’t rich, we struggle at times, but we provide for our family. I don’t think IVF should be so out of reach for middle class Americans that want to give our this generation a stable loving environment to create the same for the next generation.

If you find it in your heart to donate to us, please know we thank you from the bottom of ours. Please excuse the grammar as well. I wrote this with a very heavy heart and tear filled eyes.
